Why a Chameleon?
We used a chameleon in our logo for one simple reason. It doesn’t take a tiger or a bulldog to be a good mediator. It takes a chameleon! A good mediator must adjust to the situation and “change their colors” accordingly. The right color at the right time can be the difference between success or failure. Sometimes this has to happen multiple times during the course of the same mediation. A good mediator must know when to be empathetic, when to be tactful, and even when to be brutally honest. Our logo also reflects a transition from brown to green, symbolic of a successful mediation. Showing the right color at the right time to get the right results - That’s Mediation@Work!
It’s usually valuable to have a mediator that has knowledge about the subject matter of the dispute that they are mediating. Sometimes it’s indispensable. Having a mediator with no background in the area can waste valuable mediation time while the mediator is being educated, and may even lead to a failed mediation. Mediators without the subject matter expertise can be impaired in their ability to identify impediments to settlement and brainstorm over potential “out of the box” solutions. Our mediators have spent their careers representing clients in all kinds of workplace disputes in employment, construction and business. Therefore, as mediators we believe we can be most valuable in focusing on those kinds of disputes. Experience and knowledge in workplace disputes - That’s Mediation@Work!
